about

This is a remixed and remastered version of the demo that was recorded in the fall of 2007 as a requirement for Poligraf's participation in the 2008 edition of the CONGA, an annual local band contest sponsored by l'Association des Étudiants et Étudiantes en Sciences et Génie de l'Université Laval. The tracks have also been augmented with overdubs.

« Reinfused » was recorded as a spare track and replaces our version of Gentle Giant's « Cogs In Cogs » which was included on the demo that was originally submitted to the contest, as the rules required us to present one cover song.

« In The Taste Of The Day » is a remix of a 2005 recording and thus features Poligraf's previous bassist, Isaac Desgagné-Bouchard, on bass and backing vocals.

For the record, Poligraf made it to the semi-finals, but wasn't selected for the finals. All in all, the whole experience was very positive, and we even got to celebrate when Christian was presented with the performance award for best drummer overall.

Track Name: Reinfused
Here's the complementary poetry :

Tell me when are these times that I have dreams about
Are they mere memories of better days gone by
Unsubstantial fancies fated to fade away
Or horizons waiting to be arisen to ?

And the fire I felt when this hope was brand new
When not even Everest could have kept me from you
Has it burned its brightest or just given a hint
Does it smolder for chance or consume its last fuel ?

And the bridge you promised would serve as my footing
Had I strayed from the path or was my step unsure
Perchance that fall was meant to complete my healing
So I’d see for myself what my strength could endure ?

Weren’t you the blue bird that had awaken me
As I laid in the cold suffering of torment
Sung me out of starving, loathing and lethargy
Invited me to rise and resume my ascent ?

As I now look forward to more of your magic
Contemplating what so far had kept me bemused
Just ahead are the times I have dreamt ecstatic
I see the horizons and I am reinfused
Track Name: In The Taste Of The Day
« I don’t have the time » is the lie
I will not believe
Coming from you the alibi
Will not deceive

« I have no control over it »
I will not allow
As objection to disbelief

« I just can’t change » is this hell
You just don’t leave
While heaven is ignored you’ll keep
Facing the heat

Until this point you will admit
I will uphold my aim
You let your own inertia
Ignite the flame

Distract yourself in the tasks of the day
Don’t lie I know you’re only idling
Divert yourself in the taste of the day
You know I know you are only hiding

Angels timely sent
Keep getting lost in the noise that is maze
Blind to dreams even deaf to body
Fate is left to the hands of the clock
Track Name: Countless Questions
There's a thousand radios playing in my mind
And I can’t tell which wave is mine
Should I turn them off if they have me bound?
Or were they meant to make me sound?

A thousand pictures moving in my head
Remains of stories unsaid
Should I paint them all for you to see
Or were they meant just for me?

There’s a billion providers with access to my mind
Uploading the reflections of futures left behind
Should I deny the requests? Could they set me free?
Disconnect them once again or let them alter me?

Radio why are you here, why do you play for me?
Is there something I should see?
Provider it isn’t clear, what do you want from me?
Show the place for me to be

Flow through my eyes, the dreams of another
Flood in my mind, the views of another
Flow through my eyes, the needs of another
Throughout my life, our lives altogether

Countless questions behind those eyes
Burning while I analyse
The design of the line between the world and I
An existence to justify

Too many references enfolded in my head
Who’s to blame for silences? Who's to blame for what is said?
Redirect me into truth, I’ll strive with all my might
The path is clear yet undefined and there’s no end in sight

Radio why are you here, why do you play for me?
Is there something I should see?
Provider it isn’t clear, what do you want from me?
Show the place for me to be

Flow through my eyes, the dreams of another
Flood in my mind, the views of another
Flow through my eyes, the needs of another
Throughout my life, our lives altogether
Track Name: Creeper
Insidious suggestion
Difficult to contain
Tendency to worry
Threatening to bloom in pain

Stemming up from a doubt
Burgeoning from a no
Better sever the sprout
Or a vine could follow

Creative energy – Unleashed upon itself
Subtle adversary – Not yet under control
Creative energy – Cynical of itself
Unforeseen enemy - Between here and the goal

Coming back from the past
Sinister memory
Craving for attention
The voice of gravity

Surely as it will rise
Before long, paralyse
Surely as it will grow
In a spiral, down you go

Creative energy – Unleashed upon itself
Subtle adversary – Not yet under control
Creative energy – Cynical of itself
Unforeseen enemy – Between here and the goal

Paradise awaiting / Because your constant voice
(All your doom scenarios never come to pass)
Always analyzing / Undermines every choice
(Expected catastrophes never come to life)

Creeper now I can see / You sabotage my dream
(All your doom scenarios never come to pass)
Yet share its quality / Thus ends your little scheme
(Expected catastrophes never come to life)
